Hi , I am one of 12 Transition Brokers that have been appointed and located around the state, to support schools with the implementation of the Futures Connect strategy.

Together with 2 VEC, I work in Western Futures which services secondary schools in the western and north-western suburbs of Adelaide

Across our region, we have several specialist schools that cater for a wide range of students with diverse and special needs.

Within Western Futures we have established a number of network groups to help us identify and focus upon the career and transition needs of the students.

One such group is the Special Education Teachers Focus Group, which meets regularly to look at ways in which schools within the cluster can work together to increase the opportunities for SWD.

• discuss special courses that might be offered.
• consider possible sources of funding.
• look at ways of sharing costs and support services.
• share ideas on solving issues and problems such as transport and support arrangements.
• consider and drive new initiatives that will support the students with their career and transition needs.
