Be Active   

Options for participation

 

Playing sport and staying active is an important pathway to follow after school.

Playing sport is great it lets you:

·        have fun

·        be with friends

·        make new friends

·        keeps you healthy

 

Sport can be social (for fun) or it may mean being part of a competition and wanting to play at a high level.

 

Everyone should be involved in physical activity, recreation and sport. The choices you need to think about are:

·        who do you want to be with

·        what activity or sport do you want to do

·        where do you want to go to play

 

There are lots of ways to be involved:

·        join a team through a local sports club

·        being part of activities at your local recreation centre

·        being a part of sport and activities run through groups such as  SASRAPID, Wheelchair Sports, Special Olympics,  SA Deaf Recreation Association

 

Basketball, Table Tennis, Swimming, Athletics, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling, Canoeing, Gymnastics, Indoor Cricket, Bocce, Australian Rules, Bowls, Sailing are just some of the sports you can play.

 

Walking, riding a bike, scouts or guides and fishing are also great ways of being active.

 

Don’t be afraid to have a go – Be active and stay healthy.


COSTS/FUNDING

Most sports will have a cost associated with them.
