Be Active
Options for
participation
Playing sport and
staying active is an important pathway to follow after school.
Playing sport is great
it lets you:
·
have fun
·
be with
friends
·
make new
friends
·
keeps you
healthy
Sport can be social (for
fun) or it may mean being part of a competition and wanting to play at a
high level.
Everyone should be
involved in physical activity, recreation and sport. The choices you need to
think about are:
·
who do you
want to be with
·
what
activity or sport do you want to do
·
where do
you want to go to play
There are lots of ways
to be involved:
·
join a
team through a local sports club
·
being part
of activities at your local recreation centre
·
being a
part of sport and activities run through groups such as SASRAPID,
Wheelchair Sports, Special Olympics, SA Deaf Recreation Association
Basketball, Table
Tennis, Swimming, Athletics, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling, Canoeing, Gymnastics,
Indoor Cricket, Bocce, Australian Rules, Bowls, Sailing are just some of the
sports you can play.
Walking, riding a bike,
scouts or guides and fishing are also great ways of being active.
Don’t be afraid to have
a go – Be active and stay healthy.
