PATHWAY THROUGH LIFE

DEFINITION OF PATHWAY

A successful pathway through life is one in which the person is content and confident in themselves. It may be useful to consider what people might value in their lives.

This may include:

  • successful relationships with family and friends
  • achieving goals
  • enjoying a hobby or an interest
  • a level of independence
  • job satisfaction
  • financial security
  • housing.
OUTCOMES
The person with a disability who is living a successful pathway through life will generally be making choices about things that are important to them. They will generally be happier and healthier. They may smile and laugh more. They may have fewer visits to doctors and hospitals. Having a purpose may add to the quality of a person’s life.
