INTRODUCTION 2
As a teacher, in my program I strive for positive student outcomes. To
achieve this, I give the students an opportunity to explore the post-school
options available to them. I then work with them and their parents to
tailor some pathways that are suitable for them. In working collaboratively
with both students, parents and the appropriate agencies, we are able
to establish some common measurable achievable goals, providing support
structures that are necessary for the students to best achieve their goals.
When I involve my students in the decisions about their future directions,
the program becomes more meaningful to them, consequently empowering them
to having a more focussed attitude and take responsibility of their own
learning. With the use of such inclusive practices we’re open to
create a common understanding and a rewarding win-win situation for all.
