Transport Assistance
Transport assistance is provided to the closest Department special preschool/school, special unit or special class for children/students with disabilities.
Assistance can be in the form of a Trans Adelaide grant to cover the cost of bus tickets, car reimbursement to parents/caregivers for distance travelled, specialist bus, taxi/Access cab (ED039A). Transport Training Hours are allocated each term to secondary/special schools to assist students in becoming independent travellers. These hours are only available to students who are currently receiving taxi transport provided by DECS (Application for TT Hours). Temporary changes to existing tranport arrangements requires 10 working days notice (EDO39B).
Access to the service is recommended by an authorised officer such as preschool director, school principal, disability services officer, guidance officer.
