Learning Difficulties The Learning Difficulties Support Team, a unit within Learning Improvement and Support Services was established in 1996 as a ministerial initiative. It is a responsive statewide service providing support and advice to groups of parents, LAP volunteers, school services officers (SSOs) and teachers, preschool to year 12 in the area of learning difficulties. Support in the form of training and development sessions can be negotiated within or out of school hours to support the DECS policy 37.5 hours out of hours training and development.
The Learning Difficulties Support Team manage, provide training and development and mentoring to the Vacation Literacy and Numeracy program. This program may be accessed by students in Years 6 to 9 with learning difficulties to support them in the process of transition from primary to secondary settings. |
