Special Education Resource Unit

Supporting the educational outcomes of children and students with disability and learning difficulty

Resource Unit

Our library and information service provides specialised Teaching and Learning materials to parents/carers and Department educators who support students with disability and learning difficulty. The collection includes materials to support:

  • the Australian curriculum
  • developmental learning (toy library)
  • disability awareness
  • switch users
  • high interest low vocabulary reading
  • speech and language development
  • sex education and child protection
  • communication learning technologies
  • assessments.

Specialised Services

We offer a range of specialised services to help meet the needs of children and students with disability and learning difficulty.  Services include

  • Access equipment
  • Assistive technologies
  • Early Intervention Service Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Conductive Education Service
  • Professional development.

A comprehensive range of support and learning opportunities is offered to parents/carers and educators:

  • advice and support about resources

  • Online training
  • presentations to network/support groups
  • specialised consultations about evidence based intervention
